Welcome to Misty Meadow Homestead!
This summer, we realized our dream of owning a homestead in the wilds of the Pacific Northwest!!!
While we aren’t “off-grid”, we are moving toward self-sustainability and a simpler way of life, where we have more control over our environment and what we put in out bodies.
We believe in God and Country and loving our neighbor as ourselves, and have been chronicling our adventures on our blog, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
We’ll be posting blogs, videos, and tweets about things like foraging, wildcrafting, food recipes, everyday life, natural remedies, carpentry, gardening. Some, we actually know what we are doing, other things we are learning and invite you to learn with us (or laugh at us)!
Until then, Welcome! Welcome to Misty Meadows… where the adventure begins!
Don’t forget to follow/like/subscribe/follow to keep up on our adventures! We’ll respond in kind and ‘stalk’ you back! 😉
So… what are you waiting for? There’s adventure to be had! Start clicking! ❤️

Ps. Please forgive the run-on sentences that run on and on and on and the misuse of punctuation. I tend to write like I speak, which is often too much and too fast for my fingers to translate.
Pss. If you follow our page you’ll be ‘rewarded’ with a ‘follow’ in kind…and probably a lot of ‘likes’ as we ‘stalk’ your blog – you’re welcome! Teehee!

I wish you had a email subscription for me to get emails when you post anything new. That’s my favorite way to keep up with your blog. I’m following though! Thanks for following me and hope the pumpkin recipes work for you like they do for me. My family loves them!

I haven’t been to the coast in sometime. When I lived in Oregon, we went quite often, now we are about three hours away and never seem to find the time. Thanks for visiting. I hope you come back soon.

Hi!! Glad to meet you neighbor! Thank you for not being critical. I’ve not found anyone who has mentioned my errors. I usually catch them when I’m rereading my post… AFTER I have posted it. Opps! I guess I just need to slow down. Hope you have a great Turkey day!

Hey! Not sure what the best way to get in contact with you is, or if you’ll have an answer for me, but I thought I’d give it a shot! I know you make your own soaps, so I thought of you when I was talking to my husband the other day about using natural shampoos. We want to make the switch to natural shampoos. I’ve tried “no-poo” before, but eventually the greasiness caught up with me. I’ve tried several “natural” or “organic” shampoos, only to have them burn my eyes or leave me with some other kind of allergic reaction. Wondering what a good alternative is? I know some reviews of shampoo bars I have read said that just a natural soap left them with better results. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions? Do you use your soap on your hair? Thanks!

Hi! I’ve tried the no Poo way of life too, only to find my hair has a lot of buildup. One way to combat that is to use apple cider vinegar. Because I have psoriasis, that tends to sting my scalp. Everyone in my family, Mr. Misty, Misty Nana and myself really like my pine tar soap, not just for our skin, but for hair as well! If you would like, I would be more than happy to send you one of the little samples I have. If you like it, you can purchase it through our etsy shop or I can give you the recipe I use. ❤️
